Bullfighter sued for breach of contract, because he ran away from the bull. Mexican bullfighter Christian Hernandez was sued, because he didn’t stay in the ring and fight a bull he was paid to fight. Perhaps he was gun shy, because a few months earlier he was stabbed by a bull (gored) with its horns. Whatever the reason, he ran from the ring and is now being sued for breach of contract.
Some folks say it’s not fair that he should be sued for defending his life against a bull. But others say, he entered into a contract and knew the risks; therefore, he is liable. What do you think?

I think the bullfighter’s responsibility to continue to be a provider for his family trumps his agreement to let a bull kill him and end his ability to provide for himself and his family. Perhaps today’s newer bullfighters will include clauses in their contract that covers their right to leave the arena to save his life. Moreover, perhaps bullfighting will become something people used to do.
Mary, what you say makes sense, and perhaps in time, more people will make better choices before they sign away their rights. I’m not suggesting that a person should walk into the bullfighter’s ring and get killed. But I am saying that like it or not, what he entered into was a legally binding relationship, and the time to back out and question an outcome was BEFORE he signed on the dotted line. Thinking through our options is a crtitical element of adulthood, and so is taking responsibility for our choices.
