Fun Activities. Self esteem quotes. Self-esteem.
Self-esteem comes from DOING Esteemable Acts, and it’s an Esteemable Act to enjoy your life.
Fifteen years ago, I was asked by a number of people, “What do you do for fun?” I was embarrassed because I had no answer. It wasn’t that I hadn’t thought about fun, I just wasn’t doing anything about it. That query compelled me to assess my life. What was I doing? Where was I going? How do I spend my time? Not only did I think about adding fun into my life, I thought about all the unrealized dreams I had. That was a defining moment for me. In that moment, my life was forever changed.
Sometimes it takes a jolt to wake us up. I’d like to say that my lessons have all come easily and that I just woke up one day and said, “I think I’ll change today.” Not. In my experience, change is always preceded by a discouraging or disappointing event; a thunderbolt of sorts. Sometimes the catalyst is just realizing that I don’t have a lot of time left. Regardless of how much time I have, my days are still numbered. I don’t want to be one of those people taking my last breath saying, “I wish I had done things differently.”
Metropolitan Opera. Met Opera HD. Werther.
So what did I do for fun this week? I went for a walk with a girlfriend, I had lunch with another, and I went to the Opera and experienced Massenet’s Werther. What a week I had! And because I did some fun things, my work week was better, my relationship with my husband was better, and I could be happily and gratefully available for my service commitments. Life is good.
What did you do for fun this week?
