Are You Doing YOUR Share?
Economic development. Personal Development. “What about me?” What’s in it for me?” “Where’s mine?”
Everywhere I go I hear grown, able-bodied adults complain about what the government is not doing for them, or what their job is not doing for them, or what their landlord is not doing for then, or what their mamas aren’t doing for them. What about turning that around for a bit and consider JFK’s request, “Ask not what [others] can do for you, ask what you can do for [others]. To be more specific, ask not what the Economy can do for you, ask what YOU can do for the Economy. (FYI, the exact JFK Quote was “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”). See this and other JKF Quotes at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum.
Some of us are putting our money where our mouth is, so says today’s Gallup Report
“Americans’ self-reported daily spending averaged $88 in October, up slightly from $84 in September but still below the $95 from August — the highest average in any month in five years. Americans’ average daily spending exceeds the $72 found in the same month last year and is the highest for any October since 2008.”
While there is always room for improvement, I personally like to focus on the small actions I can take to improve my condition, rather than always complaining about where I am not. That does not mean I don’t keep my eye on the prize, because anyone who knows me knows that I do (that’s what goal focused is all about), but I am a big believer in the baby steps will get me to the prize. Keep taking those baby steps with focused attention, and you WILL get where you want to go.
