Attitude of Gratitude.
I woke up this morning and couldn’t believe I was ME! Feeling wonderfully refreshed, clean, sober, in control of my faculties, and grateful to be a 59 year old woman—with a life worth living. I think to myself, how did I get here?
How did I get to be this woman? How is it that I GET to live a life far beyond my wildest imaginings? It reflecting on the answer to these questions, I think of how my cup runneth over with gratitude. And, I think about the beautiful song Amazing Grace, and how, I used to be such a pathetic, lost soul. I had a problem with alcohol, a problem with drugs, I acted out sexually, and I was a woman that couldn’t be trusted. Now, over 32 years later, I am no longer that woman. What a blessing that God saved a wretch like me.
I have those things, and so much more to be grateful for. What a gift God has given me; what a gift God has taught me how to give to myself.
We are one month deep into the new year, with less than 11 months before another new year comes upon us. It’s never too late to get started on creating your best life. Let’s make 2012 a year to remember, a year that we did some things we wanted to do, and a year that we were more grateful than the year before.
Each month I will invite you to focus on something that happened or something you did the previous month, something you are grateful for. For me, I am grateful that in January I kept my commitment to myself to get fit. I rejoined Weight Watchers, I tracked my food every day (regardless of how many points I consumed), I drank 2-3 quarts of water a day, and I exercised 6 out of 7 days every week. Yeah for me. I am grateful that I kept my commitment to take baby steps and just do it!
What about you?
